The other day I was driving and noticed something I think has never been done in a game/simulator: the gear whine when you drive a car in reverse (and sometimes first gear)
The reason of this is that, usually, reverse gear uses straight cut gears while the rest of the gears use helical gears. Some race cars use straight cut gears in every gear to increase torque, as you can hear in this video:
